I am pleased to welcome the early publication of all MP’s allowances and claims since 2004 onwards.

MP’s outside London, like myself, have two sets of living costs. I have claimed for rent, a limited number of legitimate household items and associated costs directly connected with maintaining a second home, a flat in Westminster.

The majority of claims I make pay for professional staff, office costs, communication with constituents and travel. Each year I personally respond to thousands of residents on a range of issues important to them and I am out and about in the community, involving myself in and giving support to the organisations, events, workplaces and schools that make up Erewash. 

I have backed the changes already made, welcome the independent audit of all MP’s allowances over the last 4 years and the Kelly Review which is tasked with developing a more independent, transparent and open system going forward. It is vital public confidence is restored.
